My Secret to Depending on You!

We, the humans are often seen anxiously looking for the secret to depending on God. God intended for man to experience a walking connection with other people that included conversation, closeness, decision-making as a team, mutual enjoyment, and shared control. Humans long to depend on God, and God yearns to walk alongside you, which is why his gracious arms have been drawing you closer to him.

The tale of redeeming history involves God reversing the tragedy of the garden and bringing sinful humans back to holiness and reestablishing their total reliance on God. He gives us many opportunities to depend on Him for finding peace and a way to the righteous path. My secret to depending on God is no more different than any other man. Here is my story and secret of depending on God.

Why Do I Need to Depend on God- My Story of Being a Sinful Human to Finding Peace in God’s Shadow

I have never broken a bone but when I was young, I wanted crutches so bad. There was just something about them that seemed so appealing to me. As an adult, this sounds crazy, but when I was a child, I remember that if you went to school with crutches you were like the new cool kid at school. People would carry your books, help you to class and everyone would be talking about what happened to so and so. Maybe that’s why. Who knows? Kids like weird stuff. But it got me thinking about the crutches that I have chosen to have in my adult life. I have chosen addictions, humor, vanity, and many other sinful things to be my crutches.

As a Christian who loves God with her whole heart, who is spirit filled I wonder why I need a crutch. Why do I need crutches? The Holy Spirit has been given to me, so I could always walk in the spirit, but I choose to walk in my flesh. With my fleshly crutches. So, what is the result of doing that? Every time I rely on a crutch to get me through the day rather than God, it chips away at my feeling of being worthy to worship the King. It does.

Just believe in God because you can not hide from Him!
— Jessica Hansen

When you feel the wrath of God……..

You can’t hide from God, even when it seems easier, even when you are ashamed. Shame can make you feel like you are not worthy to worship him. But after all our sins, after all of our shame, we are not worthy to worship Him because of who we are, we have no choice but to worship Him because of who He is.

When I sin, I want to hide, and when I want to hide the Devil smiles. But Thank God, you cannot hide from Him. Even when you try.

Take a look at 3 scriptures you can read today for encouragement!

Psalms 139

O Lord, you have examined my heart

and know everything about me.

You know when I sit down or stand up.

You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.

You see me when I travel

and when I rest at home.

You know everything I do.

You know what I am going to say

even before I say it, Lord.

You go before me and follow me.

You place your hand of blessing on my head.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,

too great for me to understand!

I can never escape from your Spirit!

I can never get away from your presence!

If I go up to heaven, you are there;

if I go down to the grave, you are there.

If I ride the wings of the morning,

if I dwell by the farthest oceans,

even there your hand will guide me,

and your strength will support me.

I could ask the darkness to hide me

and the light around me to become night—

but even in darkness, I cannot hide from you.

To you, the night shines as bright as day.

Darkness and light are the same to you.

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body

and knit me together in my mother’s womb.

Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!

Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.

You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,

as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.

You saw me before I was born.

Every day of my life was recorded in your book.

Every moment was laid out

before a single day had passed.

How precious are your thoughts about me, O God?

They cannot be numbered!

I can’t even count them;

they outnumber the grains of sand!

And when I wake up,

you are still with me!

O God, if only you would destroy the wicked!

Get out of my life, you murderers!

They blaspheme you;

your enemies misuse your name.

O Lord, shouldn’t I hate those who hate you?

Shouldn’t I despise those who oppose you?

Yes, I hate them with total hatred,

for your enemies are my enemies.

Search me, O God, and know my heart;

test me and know my anxious thoughts.

Point out anything in me that offends you,

and leads me along the path of everlasting life.

Micah 7:18-19

18 Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. 19 You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.

1 Peter 2:9

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
